60-Year Marine Engine & Electric Drive Guide

Parts availability, local mechanic support and repower paths for six decades of marine power, including harbor electrics.

Old iron is not automatically bad

An engine with poor parts support is a liability regardless of hours. An engine with strong support can be worth buying at 6,000 hours.

    What matters:

    1. Can you get parts this week, locally?
    2. Does more than one mechanic in the harbor work on it regularly?
    3. Is there a clean, proven repower path if it dies?

Coronado and Shelter Island are strong on Cummins, Yanmar, MerCruiser and Detroit. Support thins quickly on Hino, older MAN and orphaned imports.

Look up your engine below before you make an offer.
